Often overlooked in ESL settings, test language can be very tricky to English Language Learners. Some say that preparing for tests is actually learning a third language. But third language or not, our students did an amazing job creating the test from scratch, administering the test to other fifth graders, and grading the test. As a teacher, it was great to watch them experiment with and talk about many different levels of language. Their work is displayed in the hallway by the main staircase.
