From Christopher regarding 3rd week

hello and salutations to this new blog. I would like to try and make this a useful tool for both parents and children. Though this is not a great tool for daily and regular communications, it will certainly contain newsletters and occasional work samples and photos of children with their work.

Please feel free to comment, and let me know what you would like to see more of, and I will do my best update it accordingly.

Welcome back friends

Wow, what a fantastic summer! I have been doing some traveling, patching some places in my apartment, sitting in the summer sun, floating in streams and lakes, reading and most importantly preparing for our first grade year. One of our first things we will be doing this year is sharing one special thing about our summer. I am going to share about a concert I stumbled on in Lincoln Center in late August. It was inspiring and I learned a new song I am excited to teach and sing with all of our wonderful first graders. here is a picture of that day.



I also wanted to remind everyone how cold it can be in our classroom, so please bring a sweatshirt.

A New Rock Band Forms in the Animal Class

Enrique, Gravity, Autumn and Daniel formed a “Rock Band” during Choice time on Thursday 12/20/2007. It was a high energy guitar driven experience. Here is what they had to ay about their rough beginnings as guitar heroes and rock stars:

Gravity said “We started this rock band just now, so when I started it then everyone started to be a rock-band. Then we did another rock band, we were playing a play…then we did another rock band then we started to rock and roll…”

Enrique said “Sometimes we quit and we go home and we go to another studio and we rock the same band, and then he [Gravity] plays the guitar, she [Autumn] plays the drums and he [Daniel] plays the flute…we wish on a shooting star that we see outside a concert.”

Daniel said “I’m the boss and Gravity is another boss of Enrique. I’m the boss of Gravity. We like to rock and roll!”

Autumn declined to comment.

I practiced making it and it didn’t come out very well, but I still liked it. So I practiced again it came out nice so I showed Christopher.

I folded it into a triangle and then I cut off the ends that was next to the triangle and i folded it into another triangle. Then i cut the part um (you don’t have to write the word um) piece next to the triangles again. and then I had to cut little triangles, and it became a snowflay (i said snowflay!).–Dorothea
