To register yourself as a blogger

To register yourself to start blogging:

  • Go to http://www.muscota.org/wp to register yourself as a user. “Register” is in the menu at lower right. WordPress will send you a password. You will not be able to write posts until Kari gives you permissions (see below).
  • When you login with your new password, you should reach a page with your profile. Here, you can change your password to something more memorable.
  • Also from this area, you can reach the Dashboard, where you have the option to “Write a post.” You will not have access to this until you have writing/editing privileges, so…
  • Next, let Kari know that you have registered and want to maintain a blog. Email: tech@muscota.org. I will give you “editing” privileges, and I will create a category for you with your first blog entry.
  • When you log on again, choose “View site” next to the big header “Muscota New School blog.” Your blog will be listed under Categories.

To make your first entry:

Click on your blog from the main blog page (http://muscota.org/wp).
Choose EDIT next to the entry I’ve made for you.
In the title and text fields, delete what I wrote and put in your own words. This way you don’t have my jibberish on your blog.

select “Site Admin” down on the lower left. The window will change completely to a “dashboard.”

Give the image a title and description.

To manage comments

To manage comments:
When people read your blog, they will be able to comment on your entries. However, comments will NOT become public until you accept them.

Go to “Comments” in Site Admin/Dashboard.
Select “Awaiting moderation.”
Toggle the appropriate circle (accept, delete, etc.)
Click on “Bulk moderate comments”
Leave comments that are NOT related to your entries and “defer until [...]
